Drilling Down on "Drill Music" and it's Path of Destruction on our Society - Fifteen on a Friday
Democratic NYC Mayor, Eric Adams got me interested in understanding the negative impact of “drill music” on our society and our youth after I read an article where he was urging social media firms to ban drill rap videos that are glorifying and promoting violence on their platforms. Adams said it would be irresponsible to continue to give violent rap music videos a platform after Twitter banned former President Donald Trump for posting what it deemed as objectionable and inflammatory content. “We pulled Trump off Twitter because of what he was spewing. Yet we are allowing music displaying guns and violence. We allow this to stay on the sites, we are alarmed by the use of social media to really over-proliferate this violence in our communities. This is contributing to the violence that we are seeing all over the country.” So, that lead me to wanting to drill down on “drill music”. Music is Killing Masculinity -Fifteen on a Friday
On today’s podcast I discuss why rap music is killing masculinity. It glorifies a lifestyle of gang banging, domestic violence, kids out of wedlock, and women being treated as disposable objects. Boys that try to emulate rap music end up weak and a product of the system. Everyone is paying the price for the lyrics we tolerate in rap music.
